Marriage and Parenting

Retreat Description

When you and your spouse are fostering and/or have adopted children, you go through one-of-a-kind experiences not all families face. At Woven, you’ll care for your marriage by taking time to rest. You’ll receive practical tools to help you deal with stressors specific to your family situation. Additionally, you’ll be served, encouraged, and given space to relax, laugh, and enjoy each other’s company, so you can return home more rejuvenated.

Key Takeaways

  • A restful weekend getaway to slow down and be cared for
  • The chance to connect with other couples in a similar parenting situation
  • Space to have meaningful and uninterrupted conversations with one another
  • Strategies for developing a strong support system and intentionally caring for your marriage over the long haul
  • Time to be equipped, encouraged, and energized in your marriage

Note

  • While we love kids, our Marriage Retreats are a place for parents to get away and focus on their relationship. Therefore, no infants or children are permitted at these events.
  • Due to demand and wanting to give everyone in this marriage season the opportunity to attend, we limit attendance to our complimentary retreats, Woven and Together in the Journey, to once every other year.

Your Retreat Registration Includes:

  • Comfortable accommodations featuring a private room with a king-size bed and a private bathroom with a shower and dual sink vanity
  • Fresh meals for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, coffee, and desserts (including endless Icedream®) curated by our world-class dining team
  • Access to the beautiful Berry College campus, dotted by 27,000 acres of peaceful pastures, tree-lined trails, wildlife, and a tranquil lake
  • Biblically-based and research-informed content designed to propel your relationship forward during the weekend and beyond
  • Serene spaces to truly unplug and connect with your spouse—time to relax in a hammock, read a book by the fire, play pickleball or ride bikes, and more

Testimonials

“I can’t narrow it down anymore than three favorites—the hospitality (food was so delicious), the atmosphere (beautiful setting and accommodations), and most of all spending time with other couples who understand the difficulties of foster care.”

Daniel S.

“I loved that the content was about our marriage and us as a team versus trauma training that we are required to do throughout the year. [We] enjoyed all the sessions for different reasons. [The retreat] was everything we needed to hear and be reminded of in this moment. We are grateful!”

Alicia S.

“Our favorite part of the weekend was taking the time to pause and reflect on our marriage. Fostering has us so busy that we often forget to pause and remind ourselves how important it is to pour into each other and our marriage and not just the children in our home.”

Tim B.

How It Works

FAQs

Where are you located?

WinShape Retreat is located on the campus of Berry College in Rome, GA, approximately 1.5 hours northwest of Atlanta, GA.

What do we need to bring?

The dress for your retreat will be very casual. Please bring comfortable clothing for the entire weekend, including Sunday morning. We recommend at least one pair of pants, a light jacket, and layers in case of colder weather, rain, etc. During most retreats, youll have the opportunity to participate in recreational activities, which require closed-toe/closed-heel shoes (preferably athletic shoes). On Saturday, you’ll have the opportunity to have a professional photo taken by our on-site photographer. If you’d like to bring a nicer outfit you can, though this is not required. Bring all personal toiletries, including any medicines you’re currently taking. You may want to bring a Bible, small book bag, and water bottle. You will not need any money during your stay as lodging, meals, snacks, and programming are included in your registration fee.

Do you provide counseling at Marriage Retreats?

Our Marriage Retreats do not provide time for one-on-one counseling with the speakers or any other staff members. If you feel you may need more in-depth help or your marriage may be in crisis, please contact us using the button below or check out WinShape Marriage Intensives.

What does the schedule look like, and will we have free time?

YoYou’ll receive a detailed schedule of the weekend upon arrival, but you can expect breakfast, lunch, and dinner as well as sessions in an auditorium type setting. You’ll have free time throughout the weekend, where you’re welcome to explore the beautiful campus on one of the many walking or biking trails. We also have a variety of other activities and games available. You can play pickleball, play disc golf, fish, hike, play board games, read, relax in a hammock, and more! Feel free to bring your own bikes, equipment, and games, but we also have everything you’ll need available for checkout.

What is your reservation policy?

The full amount of the event will be charged to your credit card at the time of the reservation. Once your card is charged, your payment is nonrefundable. If your plans change, your reservation can be transferred to another event within one year of the originally scheduled experience. This must be done at least 30 days prior to the event, or a $75.00 transfer fee will be assessed. If you do not transfer your reservation prior to the event, you will no longer be able to transfer, and all payments will be forfeited.

I know we can’t bring our kids to the retreat, but do you offer childcare for them for the weekend?

We do not offer childcare; however, many states provide financial assistance to families for respite care.

After a Marriage Retreat, You’ll Be:

  • Strengthened in your relationship with the Lord
  • Renewed in your intimacy with your spouse
