Senior Director, WinShape Marriage

Julie Baumgardner’s love for all things marriage and family comes from her own experience trying to navigate life after her parents’ divorce. Her passion to help people create healthy, vibrant relationships has taken her on an incredible 35+ year journey from counseling teens and at risk couples to speaking nationally and internationally, creating classes and resources for married couples, hosting a television show, and writing a weekly marriage and family newspaper column.

Julie’s own marriage has been a testimony to the joy that comes from trust, love, faith, and fun! Married to Jay since 1989, they have a daughter, Ashley, and a son-in-law, Keith, along with two granddogs, EmmyLou and AnnieMae. They are also the parents of a four-legged youngster, Eloise, an English Cream Golden Retriever who definitely believes she is their second child.

A leader with a teacher’s heart, Julie helped launch First Things First, a nonprofit dedicated to strengthening marriages and families that began as a community resource. During her 23 tenure, 19 years as the President and CEO, she led First Things First to become a national resource for all things marriage and family.

Coming to the WinShape Foundation in 2021 as the Senior Director of WinShape Marriage was the dream job, giving her the chance to openly share her faith while working with the talented, multifaceted team. Together, they build experiences, retreats, content, and resources that not only support couples in every stage and season of marriage, but they help them grow in their marriage relationship and their relationship with God.

When Julie isn’t working, you’ll likely find her on a crazy, fun adventure with Jay, playing in her flower garden, riding a horse, or baking something yummy for family and friends. When you meet Julie, ask her about her all-time favorite vacation.
