Marriage Retreat FAQs

Where are you located?

WinShape Retreat is located on the campus of Berry College in Rome, GA, approximately 1.5 hours northwest of Atlanta, GA.

Can we bring our kids to a Marriage Retreat?

While we love kids (and even have summer camps for them!), our Marriage Retreats are a place for parents to get away and focus on their relationship. Therefore, no infants or children are permitted at these events.

Can we bring our pet to a Marriage Retreat?

Animals that do not qualify as service animals according to Titles II and III of the Americans with Disabilities Act are not permitted on campus.

What are the accommodations like?

Our accommodations are similar to that of a hotel. Couples stay in their own private room with a king-sized bed and a private bathroom with a shower and dual sink vanity. Towels, linens, and a hair dryer are provided. In order to help foster an environment where couples can truly focus on one another, our rooms do not have TVs or telephones. We believe a rejuvenating weekend away starts with space to rest well.

When is check-in and checkout?

Check-in begins Friday at 4 p.m. EST, with dinner at 6 p.m. EST as the first event. Checkout is Sunday at 9 a.m., and the retreat concludes around noon.

What can we do during our free time?

During your stay at WinShape Retreat, youre welcome to explore the beautiful Berry College campus on one of the many walking or biking trails—just stop by the Grand Chalet to grab a map. We also have a variety of other activities and games available. You can play pickleball, play disc golf, fish, hike, play board games, read, relax in a hammock, and more! Feel free to bring your own bikes, equipment, and games, but we also have everything you’ll need available for checkout.

What do we need to bring?

The dress for your retreat will be very casual. Please bring comfortable clothing for the entire weekend, including Sunday morning. We recommend at least one pair of pants, a light jacket, and layers in case of colder weather, rain, etc. During most retreats, you’ll have the opportunity to participate in recreational activities, which require closed-toe/closed-heel shoes (preferably athletic shoes).

On Saturday, you’ll have the opportunity to have a professional photo taken by our on-site photographer. If you’d like to bring a nicer outfit, you’re welcome to, though it’s not required.

Be sure to bring all personal toiletries, any medicines you’re currently taking, and items like a Bible, small book bag, and water bottle.

You will not need any money during your stay, as lodging, meals, snacks, and programming are all included in your registration fee. However, if you’d like to shop at our on-site gift shop, you may want to bring a credit or debit card.

Do you provide counseling at Marriage Retreats?

Our Marriage Retreats do not provide time for one-on-one counseling with the speakers or any other staff members. If you feel you may need more in-depth help or your marriage may be in crisis, please contact us using the button below or check out WinShape Marriage Intensives.

Can I make a reservation for a stay at WinShape outside of a Marriage Retreat?

What does “Notify Me” mean when a retreat is full?

  • In an effort to prevent guests from being on a Waiting List for extended periods of time, our formal Waiting List will not open until two months prior to the start of the Marriage Retreat. If a spot opens in a Marriage Retreat prior to the start of the Waiting List, we will send an email to the entire Notify Me List indicating that the spot has been reopened on the website. We will not contact guests individually, and the open spot will be filled on a first-come, first-served basis. 

 

Please Note: The Notify Me List is only used until the Waiting List is opened (see below) and entering your information on the Notify Me list does not add your name to the Waiting List for a Marriage Retreat.

How does your Waiting List work?

  • The formal Waiting List will open two months prior to the start of a Marriage Retreat. At that time, guests can submit a registration online, selecting to join the Waiting List. No payment is required to join a Waiting List, and guests can be on as many Waiting Lists as they’d like. 
  • Should a space become available, our Customer Experience Team will reach out via phone and email with a time frame to respond to claim your spot. If we do not hear from you within the given time frame, we will move on to the next person on the Waiting List.  
  • For the best chance of getting a spot, we recommend keeping the weekend of the retreat open for as long as possible. We will add guests from the Waiting List up until three days before the event.

What if there is a last-minute opening?

If a space becomes available within 7 days of a retreat, the entire Waiting List will receive an allcall email. That opening will be filled on a firstcome, firstserved basis.
