R&R Description

If you are a pastor, you understand the colossal challenge of serving in a post-pandemic world and staying healthy – spiritually, emotionally, and relationally. In the hustle of ministry and the ever-present expectations of leadership, moments of true rest and rejuvenation can feel rare.

The R&R at The Lodge is designed to disconnect you from regular responsibilities so that you can reconnect with your spouse. You will have margin to renew your relationship through recreation, fun and adventure that is unique to the Florida location without the pressure of keeping a strict schedule.

Throughout the week-long experience, you’ll have the opportunity to fully unplug and be served in a safe environment, so that you can truly focus on each other and the Lord.

At an R&R at The Lodge, You’ll Experience:

Plenty of margin in the schedule to explore New Smyrna Beach, rest, and simply be present with your spouse, free of distractions.
Space and time to enhance your marriage and hear from the Lord individually and collectively.
The chance to connect and form new friendships with other couples who are on a similar journey in ministry.
A wide variety of optional experiences and activities to tailor the week to your preferences.

Who Can Attend?

A senior or lead pastor of a local church congregation
If you are a ministry leader or international missionary, take a look at our Ministry Leader R&R.

Due to demand and wanting to give everyone the opportunity to attend, we limit attendance to R&Rs to once every four years.

Please note: the R&R is a marriage experience not a marriage “conference.” If you want marriage content on a specific topic or season, we recommend looking at a Marriage Retreat at WinShape Retreat in Rome, GA.

Before completing the application, please have an appropriate member from your church fill out our Letter of Support. You’ll be asked to upload the signed letter of support at the end of the application.

FAQs

Why do we ask for a Letter of Support?

WinShape Marriage believes in the transforming power of community through the work of the Holy Spirit. Senior pastors, ministry leaders, and international missionaries need more than permission to receive care and rest from their church or organization. They need intentional support and the empowerment of their communities to see this as a vital movement in the well-being of their marriage and relationship with God. The Letter of Support acknowledges this participation in blessing and sending you and your spouse into a week of sabbath.

Can I register for another R&R and be on the waitlist?

Due to the volume of applications we receive, we cannot allow couples to register and take a space on the waitlist. If you do not get off the waitlist, you can reach out immediately to register for another R+R date with availability.

What is our itinerary for the week, and will we have free time?

You may arrive for check-in anytime after lunch on Monday. The R&R will conclude at 10 AM on Friday.

You will receive your itinerary for the week upon arrival, but you can expect a daily continental breakfast, on and off-site lunch options, and freshly made dinner.

There is margin each day to explore New Smyrna beach and go on local adventures or create your own adventure by relaxing at The Lodge. You will need to provide your own transportation in order to go out to the New Smyrna Beach area.

The programming portion is very light to align with our intended outcome of rest and renewal.

Where are you located?

The Lodge is in New Smyrna Beach, Florida, about 60 miles northeast of Orlando International Airport. An exact address will be given upon registration confirmation.

What do we need to bring?

For the pool, we ask for modest bathing suits with appropriate coverage. For women, please avoid bikinis or revealing one pieces. For men, please avoid speedos. The dress for our R&Rs is casual. Please bring comfortable clothing. We recommend a light jacket as well as layers in case of colder weather, rain, etc. While food and lodging are included, additional adventures and activities outside of the retreat center are guests‘ responsibility. Please budget accordingly.

Can we bring our kids to an R&R?

While we love kids (and even have summer camps for them!), our R&Rs are a place for parents to get away and focus on their relationship. Therefore, no infants or children are permitted at these events.
